Growing up in the rural South, from as early as I can remember, I have had a heightened sense of intuition and a profound connection to nature and an ability to see through the surface to the truth. While I always saw the elephant in the room for most of my childhood and adulthood, I was surrounded by those who didn’t see it or chose not to see it. This influenced the way I interact with my fellow human beings and with animals. I learned early on that you must meet people and animals where they are. If you try to get them to see what you see or be who you think they should be, without first acknowledging where they are, then resistance happens. Thus, I always come from a place of acceptance and understanding, along with a willingness to share guidance and wisdom when asked to do so.

As a very young man, I started working with a therapist to help me deal with anxiety, worrying, obsessing and depression. All issues stemming from my childhood wounds. While traditional therapy and reading lots of self-help writings enabled me to understand myself more, I felt I was unable to move beyond my wounds. It was only after I began studying and practicing meditation with a Buddhist/Taoist/Confucianist teacher and a traditional psychologist, who left her practice to combine therapy and meditation in a group setting, that I truly begin to heal. From here I went on a quest to study and practice many different types of meditation. After many years of study and practice, I have developed a form of meditation that incorporates elements from all.

Even as a young kid, I was the one adults and other kids turned to for advice and comfort. This has continued throughout my life. For many years, I resisted the calling to help people on a larger scale. My insecurities in thinking that I needed to be finished with working through all my “stuff,” before I could effectively help others, kept me from saying yes to the calling. Only after concluding that soul growth and healing are lifelong journeys did I decide to step into the arena.

My experience with leading meditations and offering intuitive insights to individuals and groups began twenty-some years back in Atlanta. I led weekly meditations at Common Ground, an inter-faith facility for those experiencing hardships, such as homelessness and addiction, and for those marginalized by society, primarily members of the LGBTQ+ community. It was through my service at Common Ground that I realized the power of love, kindness, acceptance and nonjudgment to heal and grow, and that in helping others to heal and grow, I was able to do the same. After moving to Los Angeles, ten years ago, I co-founded the Just Sit meditation group, leading weekly meditations for people from all walks of life. To see the meditators from the Just Sit community thrive and move further into their power has been one of the greatest gifts of my life.

I have a BBA and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Georgia, and I have spent many years working in Corporate America in accounting, finance and tax. Also, I am a writer and have had novels published, plays produced, poetry and essays published in magazines and anthologies and screenplays optioned. In addition, I have written and directed two documentary films. I am right brain/left brain balanced, so I can easily connect with and relate to both the analytical types and the creatives.

My passions are helping others step into and live in their power, the arts, nature, animals, exercise and volunteering. I recently spent four months volunteering at an animal sanctuary in Utah, followed by a month of volunteering with teens and shelter dogs at K9 Youth Alliance.
